dreamweaver cc 2018 when creating a server action and it will not allow me to give it a name. Opens as 'new file' and I cannot change the name or create another action because the name already exists. Any thoughts?

Hi All,

Unfortunately there is a huge bug in Dreamweaver 2018 on Mac OSX - preventing all input controls on user interfaces from receiving any keys.
We can not do anything about it - Dreamweaver just prevents all keys ...

This only in the latest Dreamweaver 2018 - in Dreamweaver 2017 all works fine.

This is one of the reasons we developed Wappler now - a full blown Dreamweaver replacement - without the bugs - and with so much power.
All the same DMXzone extensions are already available in Wappler.

So check it out at wappler.io - it is a free download

or switch back to Dreamweaver 2017 - till Adobe fixes this bug. Maybe in Dreamweaver 2019 ...

Hello,
What is your OS? Did you try reinstalling server connect and restarting your DW?

Running Mac book Pro, latest operating system. I removed server connect, restarted dreamweaver, closed dreamweaver, installed server connect, opened dreamweaver and still same issue. cannot name new server action.

Thanks,

+1 same issue (and same iOS/macbook pro).
The problem is present only on the latest versions of Dreamweaver 2017/18. With 2015 (and previously) no problem.

Same problem here too.
MacOS High Sierra v10.13.4 / DW 18.2 (build 10165) / DMX Server connect latest version

Just an update on this issue... the latest v1.6.5 update does not fix this issue and the issue does not occur on a Windows 10 installation.

So it appears to be isolated to MacOS... bad news because my primary work PC that I use DW/DMXZone extensions on is a Mac

Can we get an update/ETA on the fix for Mac users?

I have already purchased all 10 addon extensions (that's a total of $1,048 worth) for this free product and they are all useless if I can't even type the name of a folder action!
I will have to seek a refund and find an alternate option if this can't/won't be fixed, even after having been reported 5 months ago!

Thanks for the update George, that's not good news

Unfortunately, according to your Wappler pricing page this server connect functionality and the functions of the addons is only available in the paid pro plan.
That will be another $399 on top of the money already spent on the DW extensions - so the Wappler investment is no-go for me at the moment.

Do you happen to have any links to the Adobe KB on this issue so we can approach Adobe directly?

One other question...

Are the server actions for a site saved within a config file within the site folder structure or are they in a machine specific config/preferences?
Can they be exported/imported between Win/Mac machines like the site configuration can be?

Wishful thinking... if I created the actions on a Windows machine and pushed the site folder/files to Git repo, would the server actions config be pushed as well and then I can pull onto the local Mac repo/site?

Server actions are files, located in dmxConnect/api folder, so you can copy them to the your other machine. Actually if you are connected to the server all you need it is to get them from the server from your other machine.

What I do on my Mac is to rename the server actions file "New File" by going to the api folder and changing its name to something I want. You can find it in your api folder, which is in the dmxConnect folder. Once you refresh the DMX Server Connect window, everything should be fine.
