Guys,
Sorry to bore you but I just was playing with PPU 2 and I found quite unuseful if compared to PAU 3:

- simple animation/flash vs full tracking of uploaded file (uploaded bytes, time remaining, etc..) in the progress bar
- can't have different setups for different file fields [:0]
- progress bar is not centered in Firefox (it shows up in the left side of the screen)
- error when trying to preview progress bars
While executing onClick in Pure PHP Upload.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:

In file "Pure PHP Upload":
An error occurred trying to look up the specified browser.
Try removing and re-adding the browser to the Preview in Browser preferences.

I did what suggested but with no luck

Sorry, but seems to be back to the old (ancient) times of PAU 2, and in web 2.0 this is not acceptable

In this post Frank Beverdam says that "we hope to free up our development team to focus purely on PHP Upload 3": it was on 30 Mar 2007, many years passed and many new extensions came, but no PHP Upload 3.

It's clear that DMXZone development team has no interest in upgrading this extension and make it comparable to PAU 3, and I said, at the moment the extension takes my development back by 4 or 5 years to the good ol'times of PAU 2

That said, I need a refund for PPU (just purchased three days ago) and for consequent extensions: SIP for PHP and AddOn Pack

I'd like to tell you that I can keep these extensions and deal with a discount of upcoming PPU 3, but if in three years there was no willing to release PPU 3 it doesn't take a genious to understand that there will be neither in the future: and I need it now

Thanks

Hi Ivan,

We haven't updated Pure PHP Upload 2 to the level 3 of Pure ASP Upload because it is just not possible. Even in the latest PHP versions today it is not possible to do real time progress upload.

Other things is that we did release some Flash Upload components - like Advanced Multi Upload - that provide the upload progress within the control itself. So there is no need for special external progress bar.

Said all that we just felt that there is very little we could offer with new Pure PHP Upload 3 and it just won't justify a new major release.

That is why we haven't made it.

Greetings,
George

It sounds like a "No, you'll not get your refund"; it's ok, at last extensions were cheap

But let me say that there are tons of jQuery plugins and not - all free - out there that show how you can have a progress bar and upload files

www.uploadify.com/
pixeline.be/experiments/jqUploader/
blog.stevensanderson.com/2008/11/24/jquery-ajax-uploader-plugin-with-progress-bar/
t.wits.sg/jquery-progress-bar/
devpro.it/upload_progress/

And the father of (almost) them all:

www.swfupload.org/

Still convinced that there's no room for improvement on PPU 3 without going into Advanced Multi Uploader? Please note that with AMU I have to create another database table for storing uploads linked to a "master" record, and it seems a waste of time when I have to upload one or two record at a time...

And anyway what about the progress bar not showing on center, or progress bar preview not working? Is it just me having this issues?

Hmmmm... I wish I had read this post a few minutes ago befor I purchased.

I can't get a preview of the progress bar.

But what is even worse, I have a form but PHP Upload 2 doesn't seem to recognize it. I will play around a little bit more, but I am not off to a good start...
