Hey George - I got a strange problem that I am just encountering. When i add a DataGrid to my site, everything goes as planned. When I try and edit the newly added Datagrid, I get the initial window, then I get the file activity window when the datagrid gets the database schema and that is where it bogs down - the datagrid seems to go into an endless loop and DW CS3 stops responding and I have to close it.If I delete the DataGrid and add a new one - I can add it but still can't edit it once it is added. Any ideas?
Also can I delete the dmx_gridx.php files in the ajax_servers folder. Trying to get this problem fixed, I now have 5 of the mentioned files...........

What type is the DB you are connected to?
Is the table you're trying to display containing Capital chars?

I am connecting to a MySQL 5 database. The data in the firstname field and lastname fields in the table itself have capital letters but the database name, table name and field names are all lowercase.............would that make a difference?

Hello Mike,
Is the database local or remote? Can you edit the recordset that you have mentioned after creating it?

I am accessing the database remotely - the MySQL server is running on my website server hosted by my ISP - and I can edit the recordset that I created - I just can't edit the DataGrid once I add it to my page. It does display the data in the data table.
While I was troubleshooting this problem, I thought it might be the ODBC driver so I downloaded the updated ODBC driver. The one that I downloaded is mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.5-win32. It made no difference.

Hello Mike,
Can you edit a DG connected to a local DB? Can you check your event viewer for a recorded errors concerning the hang of the DW?

I don't have a local DB to test this with - all databases are on the MySQL server or the MS SQL server and I saw nothing in the event logs. I tried to recreate the event and just happened to change the grid style and suddenly it started to work again. I checked it throughly and all the previous data seems to be there..........so now I am really confused, but will take the fact that it is now working again as a god send. So for now, lets just close this problem report. Thanks

Hello Mike,
That is a good news but, please, tell me which design you had selected when the grid was not working and which you had selected when it started. That is for me to test if the design can prevent DG from connecting to external DB.
