Hi George

I think this extension is great but wondered is it possible to use the slideshow within a powerpoint presentation? I tried to add .swf file and kept the .xml file in the same location as the presentation but that did not work. When you run just the .swf file I get an 'Error loading data!' message. I have imported .swf files into powerpoint before and just would like to do the same with this great slideshow. I did read in the forum about using loadMovie but am not that good with code and wondered if you could help me out.

Thanks

Nikki

Hi Nikki,

I haven't tried this but it is a gread idea indeed!

What you can try is - name your xml file: slideshow.xml
and place it in the same folder.

This is the default xml file slideshow name - so the swf will be looking for it.

Let me know if that works

Greetings,
George

Hi Nikki,

That is fantastic! Could you do me a favor and write a small review about the extension and specially how easy it can be integrated with powerpoint? You can post it very easy by clicking on the "Post Review" button at the bottom of www.dmxzone.com/go?10829

Thanks a lot!

George

I have been doing some more work with this and to ensure the slideshow plays you must ensure that the powerpoint presentation is saved in the same location as the .swf and .xml files before you try and add the flash movie to the powerpoint presentation. If not powerpoint looks for the .swf and .xml file in its default location and even if you save the powerpoint presentation in the correct location after adding the flash movie it does not play the slideshow. Thought this might be useful for others wishing to add the slideshow to powerpoint.

Hi George

I am trying to create a PowerPoint presentation and would like to run two slideshows within presentation. Is there anyway I can change the default to look for a different file to slideshow.xml and if so where to I make this change?

Thanks Nikki

Hi Nikki,

After some investigation I found that you can specify also FlashVars value in the properties of the Flash Object in PowerPoint ...

There you can give the name of the xml file as well progressbar color like:

xmlFile=myslide.xml&progressColor=0x000000

this is the same that is used in DW as well.

So try this - it will give you full control also in PP

george
