Microsoft goes on the offensive against Massachusetts' New XML Policy

The state of Massachusetts' decision to use the OpenOffice or StarOffice suites and dump Microsoft's Office has come under fire from the companies officials who say that the Open Document format will not be supported in the next version of MS Office.

The main issue here of course is that millions of dollars are at stake and Microsoft cannot afford the scenario where other state governments follow suit. The ball now is in Redmond's court, whether they choose to kick it or return it softly remains to be seen.
