Apple unveils the iPhone

Apple present their uncovered secret: the iPhone. Along with a load of statistics about the awesomeness of iTMS and release of iTunes came the news Apple fans have been anticipating for almost a year.

It's really an iPod shuffle on your phone. Both devices can shuffle, both can autofill, neither has a click wheel. Unfortunately, the iPhone can only hold about 100 songs.

Missing from the phone was the rumored iTMS integration technology. Some people who'd been expecting the device were convinced that the user might be able to download tracks directly from the phone over the high speed UTMS and EDGE networks offered by many US providers.

The iPhone is available in white similiar to the original iPod, or black. The phone has a color display, uses click wheel for navigation, has a built-in stopwatch and a few games, but is half the thickness of the iPod mini and 62 percent smaller in volume. It offers up to 14 hours of battery life and uses the same connector as the regular iPod and iPod mini. It's available in 2GB and 4GB configurations for USD $199 and USD $249.
