Long-time Apple executive Tevanian leaving company
Apple's former head of the company's software business, Avadis "Avie" Tevanian, is leaving after nearly a decade to pursue other interests, the company said on Tuesday.
Tevanian spearheaded the development of the Mac OS X operating system, since 2003, Tevanian has been chief technology officer of the iPod digital music player and Macintosh computers.
"He's leaving the company to pursue other interests and plans to take some time off in the interim," said Apple spokeswoman Katie Cotton of Tevanian. "We thank him for his many accomplishments."
