Windows Media Player 11 released

Microsoft Corp has released  Windows Media Player 11 for Windows^® XP. The player includes enhanced search and media management technologies, a visually driven user interface, and optimized support for portable music players.

The player is integrated with URGE, MTV Networks’s digital music service. By combining the media player with Urge, the company goes head on with Apples ITunes music service.
