Microsoft Wants To Read Your Mind
Microsoft worked out a method for reading data from the user's brain. The method uses electroencephalograph signals for task classification and activity recognition. The company will employ it for improving user experience with Microsoft applications.
Microsoft claimed they were not content with the evaluation of the user’s interaction with the computer by questioning people. "Human beings are often poor reporters of their own actions," the company says.
They found a method for filtering EEG data to get useful cognitive information from the not-so-useful non-cognitive one. Up till now the EEG data was filled with artefacts caused by involuntary actions (like blinking) and separating useful information from junk was hard.
The company patented their invention. The question if users will let Microsoft read their brain stays unanswered.
