Windows 7 Preview and interview with Gates and Balmer

Microsoft showed a preview of Windows 7 during an interview with Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer. The Yahoo take-over, the moderate success of Windows Vista are other interesting topics of the interview.

Microsoft is not going into much detail about the new OS as it might prevent Windows XP users to wait for Window 7 without upgrading to Windows Vista.

Balmer and Gates admit that Vista was not as successful as they expected and that there is room for improvement. The biggest problem is the new user interface which forms the base for Windows 7.

Steven Sonfsky told that Windows 7 will not apply changes to the drivermodel to prevent compatibility problems, Vista drivers will also work on Windows 7. Windows 7 is scheduled for release at the end of 2009.
