New features in Silverlight 2 Beta 2
Silverlight 2 Beta 2 has been released on 6th of June as an upgrade to the Microsoft browser plug-in technology.
Beta 2 includes the following improvements:
- WCF templates for Silverlight Enabled.
- Build configurations.
- XAML Validation now reports build errors.
- Setup Improvements.
- Projects created in Beta 1 are prompted for conversion when opening to Beta 2.
- Linking a Web Site to a Silverlight Application.
- Improved built-in Controls
The new version of Silverlight 2 has also brought a lot of breaking changes that would affect Silverlight Developers and Designers. For more information about them read here.
However, the changes will not be drastic between Beta 2 and the Final Release, explains Microsoft representative.
Beta 2 also features what Microsoft calls a "Go Live" license, which enables
developers to write commercial applications using the beta code. Beta 1 comes with a "non-commercial" Go Live license.
Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device plug-in for delivering
the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web.
