"Locking Layers"

How to keep a text layer in position above an image as the browser is resized.....

Can anyone explain to me how I can use layer to keep the body of text on my pages in the same position no matter how the browser is resized?

I have an image as the background of my pages, and I have inserted this into a single cell table, and centred it, so that no matter the browser, the image is central on the page. I would like my text to appear on top of this image, but when i insert a layer i preview it, and if i resize the window, the image moves, but the text stays where it is, therefore it hangs off the edge of the image.

How can I force the layer to keep the text in its intended positon no matter the browser size?

Or, is there some other method of doing this?

Maybe you can try Layer Genie - it allows you to anchor layers to other layers, images, or links

place the picture in the cell's (or table's for that matter) background="filename.jpg" attribute, this way, you can have the text right in the cell(s) and do not need the layer in the first place. All gen4 browsers support this, so this should not be a problem. You can add background images to the whole table or to individual cells separately. With CSS you can even make them to stick to a certain side (left,right, top, bottom or center) or make the background non-repeating. It's all there :)
