Smart Image Processor ASP.NET Support
Users are uploading images to the server with the Pure ASP.NET Upload extension but they are to high or wide to fit nicely into the design. To save you a lot of time and headaches you can use this extension to resize the images to a size you want them to be.
You can even create thumbnails for a nice photo album layout!
The extensions has been discontinued. Please get DMXzone Image Processor.
Overview
With the ASP.NET Smart Image Processor you can:
- Automatically resize images to fit specific width and height
Now you can automatically resize your uploaded images to make them a certain width and height.
- Generate thumbnails for all uploaded images
This extension will let you make thumbnails from all uploaded images and use the same filenames only suffix or prefix them with a special text.
- Display the generated thumbnails
With the build in Server Format you can easily display the generated thumbnail image based on the stored original filename.
- Keep the aspect ratio during the resize
The height and width of a picture is known as the aspect ratio. This is the relationship between the height and width of the image.
- Have full support for a lot of file input formats
GIF, JPG, PGM, PNG, TGA, TIFF, PCX, BMP
- Have full control of the destination JPEG quality
You can adjust the JPEG quality. The setting of the JPEG quality depends on the size of the image.
Normal jpeg quality is set at 80. For thumbnail images the quality can be set lower, for example 60.

Implementing ASP.NET Smart Image Processor 1.0
I purchased the extension from DMXZone last week and since then I have incorporated it into a couple of sites that would allow our users to upload images to our Intranet.
The installation of the extension into Dreamweaver MX and the integration into an ASP.NET page were both easy to do and intuitive. Combined with the ASP.NET Upload extension it has provided an invaluable tool to give users the freedom and ability to upload images, create the relevant database entries pointing to the uploaded files, whilst giving me complete control over the dimensions and quality of the images, which had been an issue previously.
I would highly recommend this extension, it works just as it says, in a quick and efficient manner.

It looks good from here but it only solve half my problem ;) How do you handle deleting of images or selecting images to display based on some criteria.
