Dynamic pop-up Navigation Menu Support

Is there an extension for building dynamic pop-up navigation menus; the kind where you mouse over a link or button and secondary sub-menus pop-up? I need to be able to populate the pop-up sub-menus with DB records. I had thought Macromedia would have included the option of populating the pop-up sub-menus from dynamic data by now. I tried doing it inside the Fireworks-generated javascript code in the HEAD section of the navigation page but could not get it to work.
