It is not clear when Vienna might ship or what features it might contain. Microsoft confirmed the name change on Friday, but declined to comment on Vienna's stage of development.

Google brings radio advertising to AdWords advertisers

Google Inc. announced it has agreed to acquire dMarc Broadcasting, Inc., a digital solutions provider for the radio broadcast industry.

dMarc connects advertisers directly to radio stations through its automated advertising platform. The platform simplifies the sales process, scheduling, delivery and reporting of radio advertising, enabling advertisers to more efficiently purchase and track their campaigns. For broadcasters, dMarc's technology automatically schedules and places advertising, helping to increase revenue and decrease the costs associated with processing advertisements. 

In the future, Google plans to integrate dMarc technology into the Google AdWords platform, creating a new radio ad distribution channel for Google advertisers.

US Government begins testing e-Passports

The US Government has started testing the use of e-Passports at San Francisco Airport. E-Passports contain a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip which can be used to store personal data and biometric information. This data can be read by customs personnel equipped with RFID readers. However this new innovation came with a lot of controversy.

The State Department says it received a total of 2,335 comments regarding its proposal to introduce e-passports. The department categorized 98.5 percent of the comments as negative, 1 percent as positive and 0.5 percent as neutral.

Firefox for Intel Macs planned for March

The Mozilla Foundation is currently developing a version of its Firefox Web browser that will run on Apple Computer's Intel version of Mac OS X. The foundation has set March for its launch date.

"We are targeting the official release of Firefox for Intel Mac OS X in late March with the Firefox 1.5.0.2 update," Mozilla software engineer Josh Aas told.
