Adobe Flash Lite 3 launched

Adobe launched Flash Lite 3, a powerful runtime engine for mobile and consumer electronics devices that allows mobile device manufacturers, operators and content providers to differentiate their offerings. The new software supports Adobe Flash Player compatible video and enables the delivery of dynamic Web content on mobile devices.

“With Flash Lite 3 and its support for video, we’ve passed a major milestone in bringing a desktop experience to mobile and transforming the wireless industry,” said Al Ramadan, senior vice president for Mobile and Devices at Adobe.

Microsoft has bowed to the pressure of large pc manufactures to extended the period for selling Windows XP. The operating system will be sold for five additional months, until June 30.

"We believe the additional time will help some customers to prepare for the transition from XP to Vista," the company said in a statement.

Free Phone Calls... If Advertisers Can Eavesdrop

A US company called Pudding Media introduced a web-based phone service, similar to Skype’s online service but free of charge. The catch: they are eavesdropping on phone calls with voice recognition software to monitor calls, then push conversation-relevant ads to the subscriber's computer screen.

“We saw that when people are speaking on the phone, typically they were doing something else,” said Ariel Maislos, chief executive of Pudding Media. “They had a lot of other action, either doodling or surfing or something else like that. So we said, ‘Let’s use that’ and actually present them with things that are relevant to the conversation while it’s happening.”

Google launches JavaScript API that allows you to write back

The GData team released a GData JavaScript Client Library that allows users to access feeds that require authentication. Users can also write and update data in feeds. The first service that supports the new features is Google Calendar.

"The consequence of today`s release is basically that you can create an application without any server-side component involved, not even proxy sever and post it anywhere," commented Jun Yang, an engineer from Google Data APIs Team.
