Microsoft to unveil .NET software for non-Microsoft platforms

(IDG) -- Microsoft will unveil new software next week that will allow Web services created using its .NET technology to run on computers that use operating systems other than Windows.

"We'll make some announcements Monday where we'll have ways for people who are not running on top of a Microsoft platform ... to implement our .NET services," Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive officer (CEO), said Monday evening while speaking at a dinner hosted by Silicon Valley non-profit group The Churchill Club.

Theft of the UltraSuite

On the morning of February 19th, Owen Palmer discovered that a German language Ultradev site was illegally selling the UltraSuite Extensions package created by Jag S. Sidhu.  He was also selling some extensions from Owen palmer and Thomas Muck.  Jag Sidhu informed members of the DW and UD user and developer communities, who immediately rallied around the cause and there was so much outrage that the person responsible had to take down his site.
