Windows Vista Service Pack 1 available
Microsoft launched the first Windows Vista SP 1 as an update to Windows Vista OS that addresses key feedback from our customers. SP1 addresses specific reliability and performance issues, supports new
types of hardware, and adds support for several emerging standards.

SP1 continues to make it easier for IT administrators to
deploy and manage Windows Vista. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five
Language Standalone version can be installed on systems with any of the
following language versions: English (US), French, German, Japanese, or
Spanish (Traditional).
The new SP1 includes the following hotfixes:
- Proxy server settings are not set correctly in Internet Explorer after you download a proxy script that uses chunk encoding
- Office 2003 and 2007 Office documents open read-only in Internet Explorer
- Description of the definition updates for Windows Mail
- A new window always opens when you click a link that has a specified target in a WebBrowser control-based application
- Power consumption increases when you run a WPF-based program that runs an animation in Windows Vista
