Legal Protections and Remedies

I’ve been struggling with something lately and just wanted to see if anyone here had gone through a similar experience. I left a job a few months ago where I felt really uncomfortable because of constant comments from my supervisor — things like “you look too good to be doing admin work” or commenting on my outfits. I didn’t report it at the time because I didn’t want to cause drama or lose my job, but now I’m wondering if I should’ve handled it differently. Has anyone here taken action in a situation like this? I keep replaying everything in my head and second-guessing myself.

Hey, thanks for sharing — and I’m really sorry you had to go through that. It’s not okay for anyone to make you feel uncomfortable at work, especially not a supervisor. What you described definitely falls under sexual harassment, and sadly, it’s way more common than most people realize. I went through something kind of similar a few years back — not with a supervisor, but a coworker who kept making inappropriate jokes and comments, even after I asked him to stop. I ended up speaking with HR, and while it didn’t get resolved overnight, it did start a paper trail. That’s a big thing — documenting everything. Dates, what was said, who was around — even small details can matter later.

I also learned a lot by just doing some reading about legal options. There are attorneys who actually specialize in cases like this and can help people understand if they have a case or not, and what steps to take. If you’re in California (especially near Fresno), this law firm has a ton of experience with this kind of stuff: Fresno injury lawyers. I know reaching out to a lawyer sounds like a huge deal, but sometimes even a consultation can give you peace of mind or clarity about what to do next.

And you’re not overreacting — your feelings are valid. If something feels wrong, it usually is.

I haven’t been in the exact same boat, but I’ve definitely seen how workplaces can turn a blind eye to stuff like this. You did what felt safest for you at the time — and that matters too.
