One of the big pain points for AK lovers is finding a way to mount optics that actually holds zero and doesn’t make the gun look like Frankenstein. I’ve tried side mounts, dust cover rails, even gas tube mounts – most had issues with alignment or loosening over time. A buddy recommended I try the Gen-3 Dog Leg Rail from texas weapon system 4shooters.com/manufacturer/texas-weapon-systems-tws and after trying it I’ll never go back. First off – installation is intuitive. You do have to make a couple mods but nothing extreme. Once installed, it locks tight and holds zero perfectly. I’ve had a red dot on it through several thousand rounds on both a Saiga and a PSAK-47 – no shift. I also dig how it opens like a hinged cover for easy cleaning – you don’t have to take the optic off at all. Plus, it’s not bulky, so the rifle still shoulders like a classic AK. I don’t care much about tactical looks, but functionally it’s just better than anything else I’ve tried. If you’re looking for serious reliability, texas weapon system is hard to beat.
