Make sure to check and repair the model’s mesh to avoid errors, scale it properly for your printer, and add necessary supports if needed. Using slicing software to preview the print can help catch issues before printing.

One thing that helped me get better 3D printing results with models from marketplaces is learning how to properly prep the files before printing. I usually start by checking for non-manifold edges and making sure the mesh is watertight. Hollowing the model, adding drainage holes, and positioning it for minimal supports also makes a big difference. When I used these 3d models for printing for a few game characters, I noticed their files are already optimized for SLS/SLA and FFF printers, which saved a lot of time. They also include test prints and clear slicing recommendations, which helped avoid print failures. Still, I always review the model in my slicer first to adjust layer height, infill, and wall thickness depending on the scale I’m aiming for. Printing game models requires patience, but with the right prep, it’s very rewarding to see them come to life off the screen.
