Hey! I’ve recently started searching for a caregiver position in Philly and honestly, there’s a ton of listings out there. It’s a bit overwhelming. Some places offer great pay but barely mention any training or support, while others seem focused more on compassion and flexibility. I want to make sure I land somewhere that actually values its caregivers, not just uses them to fill a schedule. For those of you working in this field — what would you say are the key things to look for in a good caregiver job? Anything you wish you knew before starting?Replies

I hear you — I was in the same spot last year when I moved to the city. What really helped me was finding a place that offered more than just a paycheck. A good example is caregiver jobs in philadelphia at New Century. They highlight not only the job duties but also how they support their staff, from flexible hours to helping you grow in the role. They even call their caregivers “Home Health Heroes,” which I think says a lot. In my experience, the best places are the ones that treat you like part of the team, not just another worker on the schedule.

I’m not in the field myself, but my cousin is a caregiver here in Philly. From what she’s told me, the biggest difference is whether or not the agency actually checks in and supports their staff. She left one place because they barely communicated with her, and now she’s much happier somewhere that actually listens and gives feedback. So yeah, I think looking beyond just pay and hours is a smart move — the environment matters just as much.
