Does anyone else worry about winter fires? Last year our neighbor’s place caught fire because of a space heater, and it totally freaked me out. I never thought cold weather could be such a big fire risk, but I guess all the extra heaters and holiday stuff add up. What do you all do to make sure your place is safe when it gets cold? Any must-do tips?

Winter fires are no joke around here. We had a scare with a faulty extension cord a couple winters back. Now I always double-check the heaters, keep stuff away from radiators, and never leave candles burning unattended. Also, getting an annual inspection of your chimney is a good call if you have a fireplace. If you ever do run into fire damage, fire claims adjuster can help make sure you’re covered and don’t get the runaround from insurance. They know all the common winter hazards here and can give you advice on what to watch for or how to document things if anything happens.

I didn’t realize how common winter fires are until I moved up north. Makes me want to double-check all my outlets and cords before it gets any colder. Some good reminders here.
