Are you considering applying for Irish citizenship? If so, you might be wondering what the requirements are and how to go about getting it. This article will provide you with an overview of the process and what you need to know in order to obtain Irish citizenship. Read on to find out more!

Overview of the Irish Citizenship

Irish citizenship is obtained in one of two ways: either through descent from an Irish citizen or through naturalization.

To qualify for Irish citizenship through descent, you must be able to prove that at least one of your parents was an Irish citizen at the time of your birth. If you were born outside of Ireland, you must also be registered as an Irish citizen. The process for registering as an Irish citizen is known as “derivation” and can be done through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

If you cannot derive Irish citizenship through your parents, you may still be eligible for naturalization. To naturalize as an Irish citizen, you must meet a number of requirements, including: being 18 years of age or older; having lived in Ireland for at least 5 years; being of good character; having sufficient knowledge of the English language; and having intend to continue living in Ireland after naturalization.

Thank you for such an interesting article. Recently, I was worried about getting Antigua and Barbuda citizenship https://immigrantinvest.com/antigua-and-barbuda-citizenship-by-investment-en/ . I found out that you can get it just by buying a property there. It's also great that this property can then be sold in 5 years. Probably the biggest advantage of obtaining citizenship there for me is the visa-free regime in the Schengen area.
