why is there no gui check box (option) to switch off description?

The is an option to switch off the automatic title generation when adding images.
If you don't want titles & descriptions - just leave them empty.

did not try what you suggested, however trust even with titles & descriptions empty the underlying background would still show.
figured an easier way, yet that check box would still be good
