I have an issue with Windows 7 and the extension manager. I have the firewall set up to block apps by default, then I let through apps I want to allow internet connection to. I have added the extension manager to the list of allowed apps but I'm still getting connect error. Confirmed its the firewall blocking the connection because if I turns OFF windows firewall completely the extension manager connects OK.

anyone any clues on this, does the ext manager require some special privileges in firewall ? despite me allowing the DMXzone Extension Manager.exe outbound connections I can only get connected if I completely turn off windows the firewall ???

Hello Paul,
There are no any special requirements about the Extension Manager. Please double check if you've properly enabled the EM in your Firewall.

It doesn't work for me - I have turn off Windows Firewall.

Scenario:

1) Windows 7 64bit and Windows Firewall
2) Firewall Set to block all apps by default
3) Created a rule to allow outbound connection for: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\DMXzone Extension Manager\DMXzone Extension Manager.exe

Despite this the extension manager gives 'no connection' error unless I completely turn off the firewall

I've already tested this on Windows 7 - and even without any rule created the EM works fine. I am not sure what exactly you configured wrong ...

Hello - you are using default windows firewall settings by the sounds of it, I have the windows firewall set to block ALL outbound connections then I create a rule for each app that needs an outbound connection. Despite me adding C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\DMXzone Extension Manager\DMXzone Extension Manager.exe to the allowed outbound list it still stays 'no connection'.

Well, then obviously it is your configuration that blocks the EM to connect our server ... There is nothing we can do, as this is how your firewall settings are configured ...

You are just not listening to what I am saying ....

I have the firewall set to the block all outgoing

Then I ALLOW apps individually thought the firewall

I have ALLOWED C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\DMXzone Extension Manager\DMXzone Extension Manager.exe through the firewall in the firewall rules but I still get 'no connection' error.

I don't know why this happening, i have lots of apps all connecting to internet with allowed rules that work OK. Dreamweaver, chrome, ie, sqlyog, flashfxp, putty and more

The dmx zone ext manager is the only one I am having an issue with
