According to Berkowitz Microsoft lost its way, because it became too preoccupied with software gadgets, like its new three-dimensional map service, and failed to make a search engine that people liked to use.

Microsoft Introduces Expression Studio

Microsoft announced Microsoft Expression Studio for creative professionals. The new software can be divided into four parts:

1. Expression Web; for web development
2. Expression Blend; for development of interfaces 
3. Expression Design; for the design of graphical elements
4. Expression Media; for the management of digital resources.

Microsoft Issues Word Zero-Day Attack Alert

Microsoft is investigating a new report of limited “zero-day” attacks using a vulnerability in Microsoft Word 2000, Microsoft Word 2002, Microsoft Office Word 2003, Microsoft Word Viewer 2003, Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac, and Microsoft Word 2004 v. X for Mac, as well as Microsoft Works 2004, 2005, and 2006.

As a best practice, users should always exercise extreme caution when opening unsolicited attachments from both known and unknown sources.
