I'm utilizing HTML Editor 3 with a simple HTML email application (replacing TinyMCE).

It seems to be adding an extra character in random places. I don't see this extra character when composing the message within HTML Editor 3. But when the emails arrive to people's inboxes, they see a "Â" character sprinkled throughout. I did not previously have this issue with TinyMCE.

Here is screenshot sample. Any idea what is going on?

Hello Matt,

Are you using a database, and if yes - what is the encoding used there?

no. It goes straight from the form to a php mail script.

I've narrowed down the problem. The "Â" character is appearing where there are blank spaces in the HTML. Here is the HTML of a test message that I just composed:

And here is screenshot of the end result:

Yes, everytime there are extra blanks in the input we get this in the result:

A square in IE, or a question mark in a black diamond for FF.

I'm having this problem too and need a resolution!

This is being used for a public website, and everytime we update the news, there are little A's everywhere a space should be.

But our system doesn't email anything - it stores the text from the editor directly into a SQL database. The web page then reads it out.

HELP!

NEW NOTE: I did figure out that if I type into the editor it has this problem....but if I switch the editor to HTML view, and enter the text with the P tags, etc, it stores the data ok....this is definitely a bug.

Teodor - any resolution to this issue yet? I want to utilize the tool in a CMS, but need to get this addressed first.

Hi Matt,

This is a unicode problem that we have indeed with Mozilla browsers. However in the new update that we are preparing we have found a much better solution, so it shouldn't occur any more.

So it will be fixed in the next update.

Greetings,
George
