IE and Chrome will not accept period character?

I have the lasted HTML 4 version installed and I am using CS4. Just noticed that the editor will not accept periods "." in IE8 or latest Chrome. Works fine in Firefox.Any ideas?

I see the same on my system. If I want a period I first have to make a space and then go back before the space and then it accepts the period. It looks like the editor won't accepts a period as the last character.
I use DW CS5.5, latest AHE, Win7 Pro 64 bit, IE 9.
