Help! I can't update now without the DMXZone Extension Manager and that's not working when I install it. Can I just download this extension and install using Adobe's Extension Manager as normal?

Hello Bruce,
DMXzone Extension Manager is the way to install an update your extensions now.
What do you mean by: "that's not working when I install it."?

Hi Teodor

I opened up DMX Extension Manager and it showed Advanced HTML Editor 3 in there. I clicked on it and on the next page clicked on an 'Install' icon. I can't tell if I'm doing the right thing as there are no instructions. There was nothing to say whether it had installed or updated or anything. I don't have a clue. So I quick out or it and opened Adobe Extension Manager. That still had all my extensions in, including the older version of Advanced HTML Editor 3 in there so looks like it didn't update. Why do I need DMX Extension Manager when I still use Adobe Extension Manager? I then removed the Advanced HTML Editor 3 extension from Adobe Extension Manager in case there were two now that were conflicting. But now when I open DW I don't have Advanced HTML Editor 3 available in the DMX Zone tab at the top.

I'm running DW CC 2014.1 Build 6947

You must not use Adobe Extension Manager, when you install your extension using DMXzone Extension Manager ...
All you need to do is to open the DMXzone Extension Manager and click the install button if you want to install/reinstall it:

If an update is available you will see it in the update tab.

OK, but why must I not use Adobe? I've always used it and would have continued to do so, only DMX are forcing me to use theirs now, just to download your extensions. Is there a reason why I can't continue to use Adobe Extension Manager if I'm happy with it?

Because this is the way of installing DMXzone Extensions now - this is a seamless way to keep your extensions up to date.
Also Adobe have already discontinued support for their extension manager anyway.

I'm still using the old version just fine. But if you're restricting to your own platform now I can't do anything about it I guess. I've now followed your instructions and updated DMX Advanced Editor 3 within DMX Extension Manager. It now says v 3.5.6. I'd show you a screenshot but I can't upload pictures here. When I try it just inserts ig tags like this:

But when I then open up DW and I add an Advanced Editor box, it doesn't update any of the files in my ScriptLibrary folder. I've checked the file dmxEditor.min.js in that folder and in the comments / notes at the top it lists the version as 3.3.5. still. Again cant add a screenshot here which is a shame. Can you tell me what's happening? Seems like updating isn't working?

The update is working just fine.
You can just manually delete the dmxEditor.min.js from your local site folder, then open the editor settings and click OK - this will recreate the file and will place the latest version there.

OK, thanks. Do I have to manually delete all the files from the older version of DMX Advanced Editor before the new one will install? Or just dmxEditor.min.js ?

List of files that look like they were created at the same time as dmxEditor.min.js. Let me know if I need to manually delete them too:

css.js
jquery-latest.pack.js
require.js

And a folder: dmxEditor

Am I ok deleting all of these? Not sure if one or more of them may be used by other dmxzone extensions I've installed

You can delete them also if you like, they will be recreated on re-applying the editor on the page (opening its settings and clicking OK)

I have a similar Question.

I cannot install the DMX Zone Extension Manager because my MacPro is on OS10.7.5 which is apparently too old.

HTML5 Slideshow2 which I have just bought seemingly cannot be installed without this manager ap.

I am running DW CS 5.5 and it says in your sales info that it compatible with this extension.

Could I down load it on to my macbook pro on 10.13.6 and transfer it to the Mac Pro ?

Is there any other way I can download the extension and install it , short of buying a new mac?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bay
