Please explain how this differs from Feed Genie and Feed Ticker? What is their relationship to one another? How does one benefit over the other? Should I buy all 3? I read the descriptions but they seem to do similar things. The only thing I could guess was that HTML 5 Data Bindings used HTML5 whereas the others use ASP or PHP scripting language. They seem to all produce the same final result....a dynamic Flicker (or other) feed. Please explain why there are 3. Thanks!

Hi S A M,

Actually there are some similarities but they are different products that do different things. In shortly:

1. Feed Ticker - You can use a Feed (RSS or Atom), to dynamically show the latest news, photos or what ever you want on your site. This Extension places the news or whatever feed on your page and cycles through them depending on how it is set up.

2. Feed Genie - You can get your favorite feeds as Data Sources directly in Dreamweaver. You can add the feed fields directly from the Data bindings panel to your page and any tag attributes as dynamic data. You can choose from the many supplied standard feeds like Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Picasa but customize them with your own filters.

3. HTML5 Data Bindings - The extension is powered by a jQuery based template engine that helps you populate your data super-fast on the page. Your data is represented fully visual in a tree so you can bind it directly on your page in Dreamweaver design mode. Also, you can add smart repeat regions, detail regions, nested repeat regions and even repeat regions within a detail region. You can choose from many supplied standard feeds as well as custom ones, or from a local JSON file. For each chosen feed an interface with feed specific options is shown, so you can directly enter the needed feed parameters. The extension is fully controllable by behaviors and also when you are loading various HTML5 Data Sources on your page you can fire up actions to show and hide regions or loading messages, when the data is loaded successfully or not from the DMXzone Behavior connector. + Database Connector Addon is coming soon!

Conclusion - As Feed Ticker just places the feed on your page and displays it, the Feed Genie allows you to use Standard parameters of your feed from the data bindings panel and HTML5 Data Bindings gives you FULL Access to your JSON feed tree plus many other options.
Also - Feed Genie uses PHP/ASP while HTML5 Data bindings uses html5+ajax so you can use it on plain html5 pages in order to build a rich web/mobile apps.
