Extension Manager initially displaying random illegible text then would not quit unless forced to. I re-installed a new download and when it opens I get the error: "No Connection, Failed to retrieve data from the server. Try again?" Still nothing.

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1 on a Mac Pro 2.93 Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16GB (early 2009 Mac Pro)

Thanks for any help, Bill

Kevan - could you please try again? Problem with "No Connection" should be solved now. It turned to be some stupid SSL certificate, missing issuer chain thing ...

Seems we have some connectivity issues with the DMXzone server.

Could you please try again? Just click OK on the "No Connection" dialog.
If still not working try restarting the DMXzone Extension Manager, by completely closing it - right click on the tray icon and then quit - then start it again.

Greetings,
George

Sorry, this is not solved.

Is anyone at DMX Zone looking into it further, please?

Hi Kevan,

We can not reproduce the problem any longer and it seems solved as other users report so. If it is not to you could you please give details about your OS, DW versions and exact error?

Also did you try restarting the DMXzone Extension Manager?

Greetings,
George

Hi George,

I'm running OSX 10.9.5 on a MacPro. I have DW CS5.5, and CC2014.1. I just trashed the previous DMXzone Extension Manager 1.06; then downloaded it again and it started up with the same "No Connection, failed to retrieve data from the server" message. "Try again" just goes into a loop and I have to cancel.

There is no firewall.

Hi Kevan,

Could you delete the DMXzone Extension Manager cache file, so it starts with clean database, do this as follows:
  1. close DMXzone Extension Manager by right clicking on the tray icon and and then Quit
  2. in Finder choose Go To Folder from the menu and enter ~/Library
  3. there go to Application Support
  4. Delete the folder dmxzone-extension-manager
  5. Start again the DMXzone Extension Manager, login and check if now the connection is ok and all data is loaded

  6. Let me know if this helps.

    Greetings,
    George

Hi George,

Fine to step 5.

Then I start the Extension Manager. It goes straight to No Connection, no dialogue box asking for Login... back where I started!

Grumpy face.

HI Kevan,

I just had to make sure. Now it really looks like you are having some connectivity issue with DMXzone...

can you open safari and try to go to:
www.dmxzone.com/api/em.asp

You should get a blank page - but no errors at all.
Are you using any antivirus or maybe Proxy server?

Greetings,
George

Opened the page in Safari and Firefox (to be sure), both are completely blank and the source code shows just a digit 1 at line 1.

No errors.

I'm not using Antivirus or a Proxy Server.

Over to you! Let me know what else I can tell you.

OK Kevan,

Now we are going to do some magic

When you have DMXzone Extensions Manager open, press shft+ctrl+i
a developer tools inspector should pop up

go to the Network tab and see if any connection errors are listed there, if not yet - leave it open and go back to the DMXzone Extenion Manager, where you have the No Connection dialog, just press OK to retry. Then go back to the inspector in the nextwork tab and see the errors there.

When you see the errors try expanding them and see the error code and maybe reason in the content. Copy and paste here those findings.

Hopefully we can narrow that one this way - thanks for your help!

George

Hi Kevan,

You are at the "Console" view and there is a lot there. You need to switch to the "Network" view and see the errors there. If there are a lot there as well, click on the filter icon and choose to see only XHR calls. Then go back to DMXzone Extension Manager and retry.

Btw do you also have CHrome installed on your Mac and maybe have some Adblocking or Anonymous Browsing extensions/addons installed?

Yes you are at the right place - just in DMXzone Extension Manager - retry a couple of times the "No Connection" dialog so more request come in the network view. Then check it there again and cycle trough the headers/preview and Response of each error call.

well I need the above park of this screen - the charts, your console part is too big.

Just expand the part above 0/7 transfers and see all the failed request in the table with headers status/type/initiator ...

then click on one row of the requests table (showing the link to em.asp) and browse the headers/preview/reponse details.

That should do it. You can also mail me the results at

Thanks for your help!
