In the previous article, I explained basically how your LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor works and how to maintain your monitor. The first steps to calibrate your monitor, in other words, represent a maintenance routine that you might complete at least once a week. Minor tweaks and adjustments are also ongoing, dependent on whether you use that monitor for critical image editing or not. Otherwise, monthly (or quarterly) checks with a calibration tool like Adobe Gamma will usually hold you steady, because LCD monitors don’t “drift” like CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors.

Linda Goin carries an A.A. in graphic design, a B.F.A. in visual communications with a minor in business and marketing and an M.A. in American History with a minor in the Reformation. While the latter degree doesn't seem to fit with the first two educational experiences, Linda used her 25-year design expertise on archaeological digs and in the study of material culture. Now she uses her education and experiences in social media experiments.
