Web Wonderland

Looking for inspiration for your next client?

Has your muse left town?

OK, well just to help you out a bit, SAHM (stay at home mum) and web aficionado Kate Blackham has been gawping through the archives of featured sites at the Macromedia Showcase, Cool Homepages and Wow Web Designs to pick out a handful of her favourite things.

These aren't for the CSS only peeps – Kate can't wait to get her Flash, Shockwave and QuickTime plug-ins whirring and loves to allow pop-ups given half a chance.

Games

Winner of Macromedia Showcase's Site of the Day BMW1derland – a promotional online driving game – is aimed at the younger, trendier consumers of the BMW1 series. Unfortunately while I'm still young and trendy (ahem – ed) I don't think even the flashy graphics and loud music (careful if you hit this during your lunch break) will inspire me to get the bank loan I'd need for the product. Created by Meme Digital using Macromedia Director MX, Flash MX and Fireworks MX and extremely impressive.

Movies

Saving the best for last – a former number 1 in Wow Web Designs' Top 25, Rustboy is a short film and lifetime ambition of Brian Taylor. The beautifully designed site is intended to track the film from concept art and storyboards right through to final release. Easy site navigation ensures that this visual feast is a joy to explore and the video clips are just beautiful. All done with 'modest, affordable home software' apparently.

Wow, almost makes me want to stop surfing and start creating myself.
