The light blue background of the link descriptions is out of place.

Personally I wouldn't bother trying to conform W3C's HTML standards, a complete waste of time in my opinion.

so you won't be in bad company. W3C's standards are so strict that unless you produce incredibly plain, dull sites you will have to spend hours messing about to get everything to conform.
