I've been looking for a good PHP shopping cart and am glad to see IntelliCART, after all the help Tim has been to me with PHP/UD. My questions:

1: Does IntelliCART allow the sale of downloadable products? I have a bunch of pdf files in a non-web accessable directory that I want to sell by credit card orders..

2: Does IntelliCART link with AuthorizeNet?

Thanks In Advance!

Hi,

IntelliCART is no way related to the kind of product you want to sell. Once the user has completed the order, just give him access to the page where he can download the pdf he ordered.

Actually I have used IntelliCART to sell domain name registration for european countries, which is not far from buying downloadable PDF.

About the AuthorizeNet, I can't answer because I don't know what it is <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

AuthorizeNet is a credit card verification company, like PayPal.

Apologies for not catching this thread sooner. My concentration these last few weeks has been elsewhere I'm afraid. Sorry about that.

Bruno was quite correct in his response, but to address your other question about Authorize.net

At the moment, there is no direct support for Authorize.net within IntelliCART. Natively there is only support for PayPal, PayFlow Pro and Energy Flow. However, I have made payment processor support extensible within IntelliCART itself by the use of additional (free) modules.

Authorize.net is a planned module, but is (as yet) undeveloped, however, I do plan to start developing and releasing these module soon.

Hope this helps.

mmcdell,

There is no such thing as the PHAkT PHP Server. PHAkT is a GPL (ie: free) PHP Server Model for UltraDev, that allows you to create PHP Websites with the same ease as creating an ASP/JSP or CFML website within UltraDev.

1. do they need to be running php server?

Yes. You need to have a PHP Server (or access to one) to create PHP Pages, otherwise there would be no point....

2. do i need to have Phakt installed on the my end?

You only need to have PHAkT installed on your development machine (it is an UltraDev extension, nothing more).

3. what transaction companies can i link to?

Is this tied to PHAkT or is this an IntelliCART question? Please keep your posts on topic for the thread.

If you a referring to IntelliCART, then at the moment you can link to any transaction company you want to. There is native support for PayPal, PayFlowPro and EnergyFlow, and support for other transaction services will be added via addtional modules. However, there are quite a few companies out there that require very little configuration (all you have to do is submit your final stage of purchase to the correct URL). So it depends on who you're using.

4. how difficult is that ... last time i did this i got a rash.

How difficult is what? Sorry, but sarcasm doesn't help here. Please be clear and concise with your questions, and I will be likewise with my answers.

If you are referring to your previous question, then the answer has to be "How long is a piece of string?". Why? Well simply, some Transaction providers make you jump through certain hoops, and others do not. It really depends on who you are using.

I hope this is of some help.

Hi Tim

IntelliCART does look great!

I saw what you wrote earlier in this thread about how some Transaction Companies can be implemented without naitive support, I was wondering though if you know of 'Worldpay' and if you are considering creating a module for this transaction company?

I would definetly like to use IntelliCART for my next shopping cart as all your products are excellent and so too is the free advice, but it would be nearly impossible to persuade my company to change transaction companies.

Thanks

WorldPay isn't currently supported natively, but it is on my list of modules 'To Do'.

AFAIK, the only issue setting up WorldPay support is that you must have the Curl libraries installed on your webserver.

For the uninitiated, Curl is a wrapper library that handles encrypted communications over SSL. Unfortunately, if you don't have Curl installed on your webserver (check with your hosting company. It isn't installed by default as it is a PHP Extension) no matter how hard you try to get it to work, it won't.

I hope this helps.

All the best

Does IntelliCART have it's own site, or is best to check here for any news about it?

Hi

I have just one more enquiry about IntelliCART - sorry to keep bugging!

I have looked into Paypal and it looks pretty good, does IntelliCART support the ability to make use of PayPals subscription based payments where a customer would be paying for example a monthly fee for a product rather than a one off payment. I am thinking about using IntelliCART for a web site selling hosting and this would be a big advantage.

thanks in advance!

Paul

Hi Paul,

By default, IntelliCART does not make use of this feature of PayPal. As the subscription feature isn't strictly a shopping cart function, it hasn't been implemented.

I could implement this feature, but to be honest it wouldn't be done immediately as my schedule is extremely full at the moment.

All the best

Hi Tim

One very quick intelliCART question...

Can I make a shop that doesn't actually process the sale online through an online merchant, but instead the details are sent to me via email where I can the manually process through my own current merchant?

If this is already possible then I don't need to worry about my previous Worldpay issue and can have all the ammunition required to get my boss to purchase it for me!

cheers

Paul

Hi Paul,

Indeed, this feature is also available via the eMail IntelliCART behavior, which was specifically included for this purpose.

Manually processing card purchases is still a very common practice in the UK with quite a number of sites, and for this reason, this kind of functionality was a necessity.

I hope this helps.

All the best
