I just got mail from MM pointing to trial versions, are these different than the evaluations that gave me so much frustration ?

Or do I save myself from more frustration by not downloading these so called Trials ?

The email starts with:

Try Macromedia Dreamweaver MX -- FREE PREVIEW RELEASE
available through May 29!

Well, I for one am growing very weary of the upgrade that i purchased today...
This new trial won't even boot up, gives me error like this:

---------------------------
Vbox Error
---------------------------
Failed to initialize Security Client. Error code: 110
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Makes you wonder why nobody from MacroMedia comes to the rescue, maybe i should use my unused support for Flash, Fireworks and Flash MX to get a answer out of them, i'll trade 90 days of support for 1 simple answer from you ! Maybe not the MX support, i might still need it to get help for remote flashing, should i need it. My manager's idea to BUY silver level support might not be such a bad one...especially considering i wasted my 30 days UDev support with 2 DUH questions in a week time.

You can read at Macromedia.com that the vbox issue has nothing to do with Macromedia, but with the software company that made the trial piece. You won't have this issue in a full release.

Regarding trial/preview release... the mail clearly states "PREVIEW RELEASE" and not trial.

Yes, it says PREVIEW release, it also reads TRY it, i try and try and try and try and it doesn't work, the Vbox error has something to do with Flash, you get around it by pressing space before you click TRY...and that coming from the company that developed both flash and DW.

This is last mention i make on any forum, cause at MM i still get replies that start to resemble hate mail concerning the Vbox, even though i clearly stated that I got around it and now it still won't see my server.

BAH, i don't need crap like that, i rather get a usefull reply, like advice on things to check so i can try it in my own site. I need to change my site cause my colleagues finally have their lists of support centers and there's over 40 of them all with their own Downloads, Tutorials, FAQ's, product information, feedback sections and much more. Kinda like Macromedia.com but 5 times as big and i have to do it all alone, apparently without MM's assistance and if you think i'm exagerating then just look at how our new servicedesk will look like, after I alter our current design, cause current design is not fit for such huge amounts of information. Coldfusion seems ideal for it, but the MX won't work with UDev4 and the MX can't see any server, so i'm switching to asp/VB.

But i'm assuming i'm the only one with this problem, you'd think your software supplier would want to help there, obviously i'm misstaken.

Here's a sneakpeak at what I have to communicate to my 40.000 customers who use our products.

Not to throw any oil on the fire but, it's now an official trial and it still has the same issues on my system. It works great at my NT box in the office, but i do most development and new feature testing right here at home. Don't get me wrong, it's a great product(line) that is now running with Access open in the background because the App window doesn't work, it does help my ColdFusion coding though because i'm now kinda forced to type everything in whatever language i use, while UDev 4 works as it should on the same system.

And you were right Waldo, the Vbox issue is not in this full release. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
