Just a quick theory question. When sending attachments using CDO, do I need to upload the file to the server first and then attach to the mail?

I like to allow attachments when sending mails through CDONTS. The theory I have behind it all is:

upload to a temp directory
attach the file to the mail
send the mail to all recipients
and delete the temporary file from the server

Is that right theory or is there an easier way to do it? I have all the script for it, just making sure I am goin the right route.
