HI,
How do i install CDONTS with IIS 5.1 ans WinXP Pro? I ahve read the post about taking the file 'cdonts.dll' from a WIN2k system, but as i do not have a working WIN2k system (only the install cd), how do i find and extract the file from the CD? I have tried searching the CD, but cannot find the .dll file.
Is there another way to install CDONTS on my system?
The reason i need CDONTS, is that i am still trying to learn ASP coding and the tutorial i am using use this.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Darren

copy cdonts.dll to <system root>\windows\system32

goto START > RUN

type in

regsvr32 cdonts.dll

And it'll be installed. I personally did a system search for the file, and it already was in my System32 folder, so I just typed in the command and ran it. Otherwise, look for the file to download off the net of if you have a Win2k cd, search it.

Thanks for the reply.
Cannot find 'cdonts.dll' anywhere on Win2k CD, or on Office 2000 or Office XP cd. I have tried on the net but with no luck so far.
Maybe some kind soul could post it on the net for me to download?? <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
Or if it is not too large they could send by email??

Thanks for any and all help folks.

Have you tried to download that file from the site you mention?
I know i have and when i do click on the link to download the file it is dead. i.e. it does load another page but no link to download anything.
maybe i am missing something simple that i just don't see?

When i have been to the page in question i click on the alphabelical links. from there i find the link to 'cdonts.dll'. Then i am taken to a page with the alphabetical links at the top, a search box and advert on the left and another advert on the right and that is it. No content in the center or a link to download the file in question???
I have tried it in Netscape 6 also incase there was a problem in IE6, still no joy?
I must be missing something <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

the link in Ingicelands message takes you straight to the "C" listings, you dont need the alphabetical links, just scroll down to cdonts.dll and click on it, works in IE6 cos thats what i use

Yep. tried that. Clicked on the 'cdonts.dll' link and then i get taken to the page described in my previous post?

When you click on the link, do you get a 'Save As' dialogue box or do you get taken to another page?

To my understanding, both ASPMail, JSMail, and CDONTS are installed COMPONENTS of IIS. All should run in their own process and not interfere with one another.
