i'm (very) new to web design (and programming) and i need some help. i have a page (one big page) that has a bunch of items available for people to order. before i get into figuring out how to do the ordering page, how can i set up the page as the following-i need a pull down menu at each item so that the user can choose a quantity, and depending on the cost of that particular item, it adds it to a total at the bottom of page. this could be as easy as a simple formula, so if anyone can just show me a sample of source code i'd appreciate it. keep in mind i need the user to be able to choose multiple items, each with different quantities, and there needs to be an updated total price for all chosen items.
also, if there is a way i can do this that will make it easier to implement the ordering via visa later in development, please mention it. thanks in advance for the help!

I strongly suggest you to download the power climb Ultra cart, very accesible for non programers, you will find it in the macromedia exchange, then read the Ultra cart book shop sample located in powerclimb.com.
The cart is easy to use and most of the functions you are attempting to add are predefined server behaviors.
I think you need to structure your shopping flow and make it easy for you to design and for your visitors to buy.
I woul also suggest you to check the workflow in similar shops already working in the web, in case you are not an experienced organizer you will get a couple hints.
Everybody should belive in something... I belive i'm having another beer
