I installed the coldfusion developers addition on my local computer and am trying to get dreamweaver connected to it so I can develop sites on my local pc. I plan to use someone outside to host my site when completed, but I need to set it up locally to test it. So far I cannot configure dreamweaver to do this. What is the trick? I have set up a new site at C:\sites\test and want to lay the groundwork to build on. In the Application area on the right under "3. Set up the site's testing server", I must be doing something wrong. I can't get it to work. I tried local, RDS and more, how do I configure this and how do I know Coldfusion is running on my local pc? I have gotten an error that says that the server name or address could not be resolved or testing server incorrectly configured. How do I configure the testing server? HELP! Replies

You need to save your site under C:\Inetpub\wwwroot.
Create a folder in there. Make sure you set up your pws or iis server. And your ODBC connections.
Now you can test your site under localhost/site.
Good luck,

You don't always need to use the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot directory to publish sites, you need to chech that the root directory of you 'defaulty site' on IIS or PWS is set to the same as your site. localhost will only point to the current default directory of your application server (IIS or PWS). Although the default is C:\Inetpub\wwwroot, you always have the choice to use a different folder if you choose. }<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

You not necessarily need to go to Inet/wwwroot/ because if you run Apache, you define the rootfolder to whatever u want.
Anyway, I got the same problem. I cant be able to log in the RDS because of the URL Prefix. Does everyone got localhost/
or localhost/sitefolder/.
I tried both and I still get an error message.
