I have a cdonts sendmail script i have done with processes a form and then submits data to me and the submitter(if I can use such a word). I have put a variable in the send mail script to include html which works very well. giving me a nicly presented emial But when I try to put active content within my email it doesn't like it.

Is there a way of maybe creating a asp/VBscript page, you know, active features from a database and then having that included in the email, without actually putting any source in the send mail script?

Try the BETA extension from George -> Send HTML Mail... it's great... (only one prob, only works in UltraDev and not in MX, But it will give you an idea what to do an hw to do it...)
