I am going through a turorial on how to create log-in/registration pages and I want to preview them but cant. Do I have to have another program that can read asp installed? do I have to upload it to my site to view them properly? Thanks!

Because ASP is a server-side language it needs like Martha said either PWS (comes with Win98) or IIS (NT,2000 & XP).
These programs are called an "application server". And need to be configured to view ASP pages locally.
Alternatively if you don't want to set it up for local viewing then if you just upload them to an ASP enabled Webserver then it should work fine.
