I'm using DW MX -

When I open a document and make changes, then click save, it saves fine. (No warnings the first time I save it)

If I make a another change to that document, then click save - it says "document.asp is newer on the remote server, do you wish to overwrite it?"

Why is this? It happens all the time if I save a document more than once.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks-

Hi dstoltz,

it's normally due to the two systems having different times. Set the remote machine's time to a minute later than your local and it should irradicate the problem, providing they're in the same time zone that is.

Hi dstoltz,

I recreated the problem and fixed it using the information below, I'm sure this will fix it.

Issue
Dreamweaver's Synchronize feature does not work as expected when the remote site is defined as a folder on a networked server. For example, the Synchronize feature reports that no synchronization is necessary although you have updated local site files.

Reason
Although Dreamweaver's timestamp features are intended to compensate for time zone differences among local and remote computers, Dreamweaver seems to have difficulty resolving time zone differences if both computers report different minutes.

Example configurations: The site will not synchronize correctly if the local computer's system clock shows 1:15 PM, and the remote computer's system clock shows 3:18 PM.
The site will synchronize correctly if the local computer's system clock shows 1:18 PM, and the remote computer's system clock shows 3:18 PM.

Solution
Coordinate the system clock time of any computer that connects to the remote computer to the server's clock time. The hours can be different to reflect time zone differences, but the minutes should match.

That was it...

I made the minutes the same - the server maybe 2 seconds ahead of the local PC...

Works great now! Thanks!

I'm assuming this is only an issue when you are connecting via network/share...I've never seen this problem with FTP...
