Having once created a radio group, is it then possible to edit it later as a group - eg so as to change the layout option? Thanks

Yes, this is very possible.
Just change your layout and appearance of the radio buttons but DO NOT change the button names...a group of buttons is nothing more then multiple buttons sharing the same name, example 6 buttons with the name Answer1 for use in a survey with 6 possible answers to the first question.
HTH.

Thanks, I know HTML, but my question is, in DWMX can I edit the *group* as such? i.e. how do I get the Radio Group dialog box back once I've created the group?

that, sadly, is not possible. The only option is after you drop in the radio group from the insert panel you can go to serverbehaviors -> dynamic form elements and you can re-edit that, but there is no way that I know of to get the original "Insert radio group" requester back to add, for instance, the layout using table option.
