why isn't my transparent .gif transparent? in the design view the image is transparent as it should be; however, in i.e., the image is a solid white.i have the image on a layer positioned over a table that i should be able to see through the transparent gif. instead, i get a solid white square.
again, the image is transparent in design view, but no in internet explorer. any idea why?

Did you make the image?
If you use fireworks, open the .gif and choose "File > Export Preview"
choose "Gif" , however many colours you want etc.. and then either use the "INDEX or ALPHA" transparency at the bottom left of the export wizard (whichever suits your needs best). This should fix your problem.
