This is a real newbie question and I am stuck. I have a form and a perl script on the server to send the mail to me. The host site is UNIX and I need to change the permission to 755 otherwise it keeps telling me aurorization failed.

How do you change the permission of the file on the server? Please help, someone.

You need to check with your web server host... they will know how to change that for your particular server.

I am wondering what Control Panel they gave you to manage your site. I know that on CPanel 5 and 6, you can change the permissions from there.

Let me know and i my be able to help you.

Download the Set Permissions extension by Jay London from the Macromedia/Dreamweaver Exchange. I've had luck in some Unix environments--not saying that it will absolutely work, but it's incredibly easy to use.

After installing, restart DW, then connect to your site. Find the file/folder you want to edit and right-click to choose Set Permissions...

From there, the values you use are up to you. If it's working, you'll know by testing. I think you are warned if it cannot work on that server...
