I have a problem with a extremely slow database connection from UltraDev 4 on Win XP Pro to my database.i initially was connected to the db with dsn; then i changed it to a custom connection to try to remedy the problem.
This did not help.
I can create the connections and the record sets, but the movement betweeen pages and or just making the connection to edit is very slow. I have tried a reinstall, and update check for XP with no help or improvment.
Any suggestions??

from what you say (you said it was slow) it looks like you're using Access.
Unfortunetly the simplest answer is that Access tends to be rather slow, due to an undocumented bug: it's crap.
I used access for a long time and then switched to MySQL... the difference in speed is amazing. You will never use Access again once you get used to a professional db tool like MySQL or MSQL.

Thanks for the reply, but my definition of slow is anywhere from 1-3 minutes to move from the recordset back to the page. This is for every move on the site. Even page to page.
I can appreciate that access might be alittle slower than sql but this is way slower than you would expect.
I have just tried a new reinstall and setting up my connections again, and that did not help either.

I once had this problem and it was due to me defining my local and remote sites in the same directory (it seemed natural to do this as I was only using the one computer)
I changed them to 2 different directories and everything was fine.
