The problem is caused when I use a form to insert or edit a record.
I add a file upload box and then the enctype multipart/form data is added to my form. At this point the record will no longer inster or update.

When I remove the enctype the form then updates, however The file upload will not work. The server hosting the project is a w2k server with iis 5.0 I am using classic ASP/VBScript.

Does anyone here know how to request variables in an ASP page from from a page submitted as multipart/form-data.

it depends- you using GET or POST mothod for your form?
