First Created an Excel File. The File Had 3 Columns. None of the Column names or content had numerical values. I used Names under the column 'Tech' (example: Joe), Towns under the Column 'Area' (example:San Diego) , State Abbreviations under the column 'State' (example: CA). I imported this xls file into a table of an Access 2000 Database. I connected ColdFusion MX to the Datasource (i.e. the 2000 Database). It came back with an 'ok' after submitting.
I Created a Recordset under my index.cfm file. It tested out perfectly.
I Inserted an Application Object > Master Detail Page Set and used the 'Tech' Field to Link to Detail Form and Pass Unique Key and numeric was not selected.
In the Detail Page I Chose all 3 Fields for output.
Saved Both Files and Everything Worked Perfectly. No Matter what Name I clicked on on the Index.cfm file, it took me to the specific information for that name.
Now...
I Added a column to the database that I want to be used as the Variable the user Clicks to pull up information rather than the name. This column is the only column that the values will never be the same. Its the unique identifier.
I added a column to the database (first in excel and imported to Access 2000), and made this column named 'ID' have numerical Values (i.e. 14553). I used this Field as the Link to Detail Form and Pass Unique Key as nemeric was selected after resynching the database with Coldfusion and creating a new Recordset. When I used the Field that has the Numerical Values in it as the "identifier" I get a error message when the Identifier is clicked on the index.cfm page.
Here is the Error Message.
Error Executing Database Query.
[MERANT][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Data type mismatch in criteria expression.
I Am sure that I Need to change something since I am using a numerical value instead of standard text as the identifier for the query. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thank you
Stidd

What is the datatype of the 'identifier' field in your Access database?
